T800 VS T1000 CARBON FIBER BIKE FRAME

2022-01-01

What's the different from T800 carbon fiber frame and T1000 carbon fiber frame?

Carbon fiber is a popular material used in a wide variety of industries due to its exceptional strength and lightweight properties. There are different grades of carbon fiber, with T1000 and T800 being the two most commonly used grades. The two grades differ in performance and characteristics, making them suitable for different applications. In this blog post we will discuss the difference between the carbon fiber T1000 and T800.

WORK

Carbon fiber T1000 and T800 differ in composition. The T1000 is made of ultra-high modulus carbon fiber, while the T800 is made of high modulus carbon fiber. The ultra-high modulus carbon fiber used in the T1000 is stiffer and stronger than the high modulus carbon fiber used in the T800. This makes T1000 carbon more expensive and less commonly used than T800.

STRENGTH

The strength of carbon fiber is determined by its modulus of elasticity, a measure of how much a material can be stretched without breaking. T1000 carbon fiber has an elastic modulus of approximately 590 GPa, which is stronger than T800 carbon fiber, which has an elastic modulus of approximately 550 GPa. This means that T1000 carbon fiber is more suitable for aerospace, defense and other applications that require high strength.

RIGIDITY

Stiffness is another important property of carbon fiber. A material's stiffness is measured by its modulus of rigidity, a measure of how much a material can bend or twist without breaking. T1000 carbon fiber has a modulus of stiffness of about 23 GPa, which is stiffer than T800 carbon fiber, which has a modulus of stiffness of about 20 GPa. This makes T1000 carbon fiber better suited for applications requiring high stiffness, such as sports equipment.

DENSITY

Density is the mass per unit volume of a material. The density of T1000 carbon fiber is about 1.8g/cm3, while the density of T800 carbon fiber is about 1.6g/cm3. This means that T1000 carbon fiber is denser than T800 carbon fiber, which makes it more challenging to work with and may limit its use in certain applications.

Cost

Finally, there is the cost factor. Due to its superior strength and stiffness, T1000 carbon fiber is more expensive than T800 carbon fiber. This means that T1000 carbon fiber is typically used in high-end applications where cost is less of a concern, while T800 carbon fiber is used in more cost-sensitive applications.
